We take inspiration from our past as we develop the latest products today and for the future.

RPC bpi protec is part of the RPC bpi group that started as a small flax-warping business in Dundee in 1797. By the First World War the company had long swapped steam for electric power to mass produce jute sandbags.

By the Second World War, polythene had eclipsed jute as a preferred packaging material. The dawn of the 1990s found the company making its mark in food, beverage, industrial and medical markets – flexible packaging had become part of the mainstream.

It was during this period that Valentine Mann & Brown (VMB) joined the group – eventually renamed ‘British Polythene Industries’ (bpi) – and heralded a period of rapid growth. This was crowned in 2016 when British Polythene Industries became part of RPC Group.

Today RPC bpi protec is one of the UK’s largest printers and converters of flexible packaging, with more than 400 employees across seven sites.
