RPC bpi protec celebrates shortlisting for three industry awards
X-EnviroPouch, the fully recyclable stand-up pouch solution, has been shortlisted for both ‘Best New Concept’ at the UK Packaging Awards and the fourth annual Sustainability Awards organised by Packaging Europe.
While traditional stand-up Doy pouches enable a wide variety of today’s consumer products to be conveniently packaged, their traditional laminate structure makes them very difficult to recycle. X-EnviroPouch is a new pouch solution that delivers functionality with full recyclability, bringing stand-up sustainability to this popular packaging format.
Separately, recognising the culture of sustainability across the business, RPC bpi protec’s Reprocess customer recycling initiative is a finalist in the ‘Best Environmental or Energy Efficiency Programme of the Year’ category at the annual Plastics Industry Awards. The closed-loop recycling initiative captures surplus plastic packaging and turns it into second-life products for the benefit of its customers, forming part of the RPC bpi Group’s recycling of over 85,000 tonnes of polyethylene each year.
“We are delighted to have been shortlisted by these three leading industry awards,” says Managing Director of RPC bpi protec, David Lumley. “We focus on delivering innovative and sustainable products as part of our total packaging solutions to customers. The shortlisting for X-EnviroPouch and the bpi protec Reprocess scheme recognise this, and we greatly look forward to the respective awards ceremonies later this year.”
